34. Elizabeth HARTON (1) was born in 1816 in Springfield, Robertson Co., TN. She died after 1874.
She was married to R.L. M. , MD HOGG about 1835.
A document headed State of Tennessee Rec'd of Doc Rd in Madison County Hogg
former guardian of Minor heirs of Daniel Harton dec'dtwenty sixty hundred and
eight three dollars and seventy seven cents in notes Acc & rec also the further
sum of thirty six dollars and seventy nine cents cash make in all $2720.50.
One fourth of the first item the said Hogg is entitled to when collected in right
of his wife Elizabeth also this further sum of five hundred and eight seven dollars
and fifty cents being the one fourth part of his interest in the division of
the negroes, which mons ful appears by deed of conveyance from said Hogg to the
heirs and leaving a balance of one hundred and fifteen dollars and fifty three
cents due to the heirs by him errors expected. witness my hand this 15th day
of May 1835. signed Jno P. Harton guardian of the heirs of the estate of Danl
Harton Dec.
James Elrod apparently died before Aug 6, 1833 and R.L. N. Hogg took over as
guardian. Elizabeth HARTON and R.L. M. , MD HOGG had the

She was married to John BALFOUR on 28 Nov 1844 in Marshall Co,
MS. The date comes from the Holly Springs, MS Gazette
John BALFOUR(1) was born on 6 May
1806 in Randolph County, North Carolina. Marriage notice in Jackson, MS Southern
Weekly Reformer for 6 Dec 1844 says that Mr. Balfour is a member of the Legislature
and that they married in Yalobush Co., MS., but the Marshall Co., Marriage Records
have them married in that county by R. Wyche, MG on 29 Nov 1844
In the 1870 Census John and Elizabeth had only Jefferson and Betsy living with
them. Elizabeth HARTON and John BALFOUR had the following children:
