Governor & Capt General in and over the said State in the Sum of Fifty pounds Current money, To which payment will and Truly to be made to the said Richard Caswell and to his Successors, We bind ourselves our heirs Exr. Note: It appears to me that even within this document we find different spelling of the name. It appears the signature is written William Jean while the body (presumably written by a clerk) spells the name as Janes. We feel this is an important document since Edward Pegram and Patty Jean are the ancestors of many Pegram family members from the Guilford Co., North Carolina area as well as being the ancestor of Winona whose contributions have made this site what it is today.
