Pegram Apprenticeship Contract

This
indentue made the 24th. of January in the second year of the reigne of
our sovereigne Lady Anne by the grace of God of England, Scotland,
France & Ireland Queen defender of the faith & bwtn Thomas
Whitby or JCC on the one parte & Daniell Pegram orphan of YC on the
other parte wittnesseth that the sd Daniell Pegram by & w/ the
consent & allowance of her Matys Justices of the peace in open ct
held for this cnty of York the day of the date hereof have put placed
& bound himselfe as an apprentice w/ the sd Whitby & as an
apprentice w/ him the sd Whitby to dwell from the day of the date hereof
untill the twelfth day of January wch shall be in the year of One
thousand seven hundred ten & eleven by & wch time & terme
the sd Pegram shall serve his master the sd Whitby faithfully & the
sd Whitby for his parte promiseth the sd Daniell Pegram in the craft
mistary & ocupation of a carpenter after the best manner that he can
or may, to watch, informe or cause to be taught or informed as much as
in his power & also to supply sufficient & convenient meat,
drink, washing, lodging & apparell & other things meet and
needfull for an apprentice. Also the sd Whitby doth promise &
agree to give the sd Pegram at the expiration of the sd terme a gentile
suite of clothes & carpenters tools to the worth of five pounds
sterl money & further that if it pleases God the sd Whitby shall
departe this life during the term or time the sd Pegram then to be at
his own liberty & pleasure in wittness herof the partys above named
to this present indenture hath interchangable set their hands &
seals the day & year above written. |
