"The old Book of Sermons from which I copied the above just as it was written, was found in the attic of my great, great, grandmother's home, Martha Egerton who married William Henry Brown. Martha Brown was granddaughter of John and Elizabeth Egerton and was daughter of their youngest child, Wilmot Egerton and his wife Ann Judkins. The old Book of Sermons is now in my possession, and came from the old Brown home in Macon, Warren Co., N.C. The back of the book is gone and some pages are missing, but the writing in it is very plain."

COMMENT:

A copy of the above Affidavit was sent to me many years ago by Sarah Myrick Parker who also had a copy made from the actual pages in the Book Of Sermons which I also have.

Jean Egerton, born October 27, 1734 married Joseph Harris.. Their daughter, Martha Harris married Moses Lancaster and their daughter, Clarissa Lancaster married George Pegram, Jr. in Warren Co., N.C. in 1804.

John Egerton, Jr., the son of John Egerton, Sr. and his wife, Rachel Wilmot, was born circa 1700, probably in St. Mary's Co., Maryland but possibly in Isle of Wight Co., Virginia,  where they moved with William Wilmot, father of Rachel Wilmot.  William Wilmot died shortly after their arrival. The appriasal of William Wilmot's estate is found in Isle of Wight Co., Virginia in 1701. John Egerton, Jr. married Elizabeth Nicholson in Surry Co., Virginia  in 1726 and probably lived with his father in Virginia until he first appears in North Carolina in 1733. We have no record of the death of either John Egerton, Sr. or his wife, Rachel Wimot.

John Egerton, Sr., the son of Charles Egerton, Jr. and his wife, Ann Godfrey, was born in Virginia or Maryland circa 1673 and married his wife, Rachel Wilmot in St. Mary's Co., Maryland circa 1698.

Charles Egerton, Jr. son of Charles Egerton, Sr., was born after 1645 and married Ann Godfrey, daughter of John Godfrey and his wife Sarah ______ circa 1670, probably in St. Mary's Co., Maryland.
