222. Frank Nicholas "Francis" EGERTON was born in 1853 in Franklin County, North Carolina. He died in 1924. Frank was a prominent dry goods merchant and member of the Boar d of Trustees that established the first public school system i n Louisburg. He purchased the land and home that was sited o n a knoll at tae west end of Nash Street from W. M. Crenshaw i n 1882. He and Pattie Bet lived in the house until it was destro yed by fire in 1905. He then had M. Frank Davis construct on th e site the house that is now (in 1998) there. I have photograph s of the home.

He was married to Pattie Bet DAVIS on 21 Nov 1877 in Warren Co., NC. Pattie Bet DAVIS was born on 5 Aug 1852 in Fork Township, Warren County, North Carolina. She died on 31 Mar 1915 in Warren County, North Carolina. She was a School Teacher. She was educated Louisburg Female College.. The principal playmates of Pattie Bet were her cousins Pattie Lu cy DAVIS and Annie HINTON PITCHFORD. Amy was her nurse and perso nal maid. Patie first attended her Uncle Sam's private school th en she lived with her older brother Matthew in Louisburg until s he graduated from Louisburg College. It was temporarily merged w ith Greensboro Methodist College after the fire in 1865 heavil y damaged the Greensboro school. Pettie Bet next taught school a t her Uncle Sam's private school. She used the money from her sa lary to buy the first sewing machine ever seen in the community. Frank Nicholas "Francis" EGERTON and Pattie Bet DAVIS had the following children:

411 vii. Elliotte Leslie EGERTON was born on 14 Oct 1888 in Franklin County, North Carolina. She died about 1970.
