ELEVENTH GENERATION

18. Sir John EGERTON was born in 1579 in Sussex Co., England. He died on 4 Dec 1649 in Ashridge, Sussex Co., England. He was buried in Little Gaddesden Church. He was a First Earl Of Bridgewater. Created Earl in 1617. Lord President of Wales in 1634. He reside d in Ludlow Castle. He inherited his father's titles of Baron o f Elllesmere and Viscount Brackley.
He is reported to have had four or five sons and eleven daughter s. I do not know which of his two wives was mother of which chil dren. I have assigned the names of the sons for which I have inf ormataion to the second wife only as a matter of convienience t o form a train of descendants.

Lady Frances STANLEY (daughter of Ferdinand STANLEY and Alice SPENCER) was born about 1580. She died on 11 Mar 1635/36. Lady Alice was Countess of Bridgewater. Sir John EGERTON and Lady Frances STANLEY had the following children:

20 i. Charles 1 EGERTON was born about 1595.
21 ii. James EGERTON was born about 1598 in England. He died before 1640 in England. Although he was the oldest son, he did not assume the title to h is father's estate when his father died. His younger brother, Jo hn did. I assume he had died previously.

23 iv. Thomas EGERTON was born about 1604 in Sussex Co., England.
24 v. Alice EGERTON was born about 1605.
25 vi. Anne EGERTON was born about 1608.
26 vii. Cecelia EGERTON was born about 1610.

+28 ix. Arabella EGERTON.
+29 x. Elizabeth EGERTON.
+30 xi. Mary EGERTON.
+31 xii. Penelope EGERTON.

Lady Louise DESAINT-JORDAN was born about 1580 in England. She died about 1600 in England.
