He apparently died as the result of an auto accident based on the following newpaper article published February 10, 1996, i.e.:
"WALKERTOWN -- A tanker truck driver from Maryland has been charged with reckless driving after a Friday morning accident that critically injured a Kernersville man. Albert D. Blackburn, 76, was driving a pickup truck that was run over by a tanker truck at 10:30 a.m. on N.C. 158, three miles north of Walkertown. He was taken to Bowman Gray Baptist Hospital University Medical Center, where he was in critical condition Friday night."

Her obituary from the Greensboro News Record on January 16, 1997 reads in part as follows:
Maurine Pegram Bernstein, 83, of Southampton, Pa. and formerly of Summerfield, North Carolina, died January 10, 1997 at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook, Pa. She was the wife of the late Spencer Trone Bernstein and the daughter of the late Romas Clyde and Bessie Phillips Pegram. She was a retired nurse, being employed by Duke University and Temple University Medical Center. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Southampton. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17 at Summerfield United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Clinard officiating. Survivors include sons, Elbert Pegram Bernstein and Spencer Trone Bernstein, Jr. and daughter-in-law Joan Cournoyer Bernstein; sisters, Jacquelyn Pegram and Ruby Pegram; brother, Herbert Vance Pegram and grandchildren, Laura and Kenneth Bernstein.

High Point, NC: Mrs. Era Combs Powell, 88, of Westchester Manor, formerly of Westchester Manor, formerly of Wallburg-High Point Road and Homewood Avenue, went to be with her Lord on Friday, May 30, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital, following several months of declining health. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery by Rev. David Keith. She was born Aug. 29, 1914, in Forsyth County, a daughter of John Walter and Nannie Florence Pegram Combs. She was a graduate of Stokesdale High School and received nurses training at City Hospital in Winston-Salem. She was employed as a private duty nurse from 1950 until 1990. Mrs. Powell had been a member of First United Methodist Church and most recently attended First Wesleyan Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) M. Powell, a former High Point Police officer, who died in 1971. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Powell Spurgeon of High Point-Wallburg Road; a son, Dr. James Meyers Powell of Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Madeline Richardson of Stokesdale and Mrs. Joanne Wray and her husband, Robert, of Summerfield; five grandchildren, Emily Powell, Mark Powell, Zachary Spurgeon, Joshua Spurgeon and Mary Beth Spurgeon.
Era married 1 James (Jim) Mahlon Powell on 13 May 1939 in Guilford Co., North Carolina.

Mrs. Joan Combs Wray, 87, died Saturday morning, February 28, 2009, at Moses Cone Hospital.
A service of celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, at Stokesdale United Methodist Church, with Rev. Claudia Harrelson, Rev. Bryan Fox and Rev Rick LeBaube officiating.
A Guilford County native, Mrs. Wray was born on July 4, 1921, the daughter of the late John Walter and Florence Pegram Combs. She was a member of Stokesdale United Methodist Church, and retired from Guilford County Schools.
Surviving are her husband, Robert H. Wray, of the home; three children, Janice Covington, Robert David Wray and his wife, Judy, and Jane Koontz and her husband, Jack, all of Summerfield; a sister, Madeline Richardson of Stokesdale; six grandchildren, Randy Covington, Mark Covington, John Wray, Matt Wray and Angie Harte, and eight great-grandchildren.
Joanne married Robert H. Wray.
