His obituary published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on Aug. 22, 2004, reads in part as follows:
"William P. Bagwell Jr., 90, of Richmond, passed away on Friday, August 20, 2004. Born in Blackstone, Virginia, he was the son of the late William P. Bagwell Sr. and Petronella B. Bagwell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annetta I. Bagwell; and his son, William P. Bagwell III. He is survived by his son, Thomas D. Bagwell; daughter-in-law, Sherry; and granddaughter, Lorin R. Bagwell. Bill was graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 1935. He attended the University of Virginia Law School and practiced law in Blackstone, Virginia until 1960. Bill served as an officer in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1945. He served as mayor for the Town of Blackstone from 1941-1942, and as town attorney from 1945-1960. He then served as an Assistant Attorney General in Richmond from 1960-1979 when he retired."

"William Bagley "Willie" Bridgforth, 66, of Kenbridge, Va., died September 11, 2004. He was son of the late Edward McPhail Bridgforth and Sudie Bagley Bridgforth. He is survived by his brothers, Edward McPhail Bridgforth Jr. of Richmond and John B. Bridgforth of Reno, Nevada; and his nephews, Andrew Bagley Bridgforth, Bryan Wooden Bridgforth and Baskerville Pennington Bridgforth. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, in the Kenbridge Heights Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Clarke Funeral Home, Kenbridge, on Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Kenbridge Emergency Squad or to the Kenbridge Fire Department. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff and management at The Manor of Natural Bridge for their love and splendid care of Willie for the past 16 years."18561 M iii John Baskerville Bridgforth was born 1 on 11 Feb 1944.
