During the Civil War he served as Forth Sergeant, The Border Rangers Co. 4. There was a Buck Neely, Private, in the same company.
In 1870 the couple were living next door to Elizabeth's father and siblings. There is an Emma, age 4, also in the home. She may have been a child by a prior marriage.

The 1880 Census appears to have the wrong birthplace for Daniel and his parents. We believe the 1850 Census was correct since it was based on his father's knowledge of where he and the children were born.
The 1900 Census shows the couple have been married for 36 years. They have had 7 children, all living. Only Arthua and Harry remain at home. Danel's occupation is shown as blacksmith.
Daniel married Nancy Caroline Troutt daughter of Isiah Troutt and Nancy Bowers on 8 Sep 1864 in Elkton, Todd Co., Kentucky. Nancy was born in 1843 in Kentucky. She died on 4 Jul 1912 in McCracken Co., Kentucky.

The 1900 Census show the couple have been married for 30 years. They have had 4 children with 3 living. Edgar B. and Leanor are still at home although the marriage date for Edgar is shown as 1899. Since we know that Oren (Owen) was married at this time, it would indicate that Harry was dead. However, it should be noted that there is a Harry L. Harton of the same age in Christian Co. in 1920.
William married Mary Virginia Wade on 11 Dec 1869 in Elkton, Todd Co., Kentucky. Mary was born 1 in Jul 1848 in Kentucky.

Julia married William B. Wade in 1869 in Kentucky. William was born 1, 2 in 1841 in Kentucky. He died on 28 Jun 1913 in Logan Co., Kentucky. He was buried in Buried Maple Grove Cemetery, Russellville, Kentucky.
The 1900 Census reflects the couple have been married for 31 years. They have had children with 3 living, all of whom are still in the home.
They had the following children:

The 1920 Census shows that Bertha was a photographer.4641 M ii Minor B. Wade was born in Apr 1874. 4642 M iii Tim E. Wade was born 1 in 1876 in Kentucky. He died before 1900. 4643 F iv Lela Wade was born 1, 2 in Feb 1881 in Kentucky.
We are unable to read the name of this daughter on the 1900 Census.
1442. Martha Virginia Harton (Daniel T. Harton , Gideon Harton , Sarah Pegram , Daniel , Daniel , George ) was born 1, 2 about 1851 in Warren Co., North Carolina.
In 1900, she is living with her second husband. Living with her is her son, Bion [Byon]. There are clearly errors on the 1900 Census since it shows she was born in Illinois and both parents were born in Virginia. We can only assume the Census taker talked to someone in the household other than Martha Virginia. Her daughter's family is enumerated on the same page, within a few houses.
Martha married (1) Melvin A. Tinker son of Giles M. Tinker and Matilda on 11 Sep 1872 in Elkton, Todd Co., Kentucky. Melvin was born 1, 2 about 1846 in Ohio.
