He was buried in Greenwood Cem, Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee.

Richard lost his mother to tuberculosis when he was 11 years old. He was then raised by by his aunt, Sally Hogan, who never married. He was inducted into service during WWII and served in the 82nd Cemical Mortar Battalion. He was discharged on January 20, 1946. He died at age 57 of tuberculosis of the heart, purportedly only the second case ever reported in Tennessee. He was survived by his wife, 5 children and 11 grand-children.

Richard married Elma Mae Lisenbee daughter of Ernest Lee Lisenbee and Elmo Marndy Norris on 26 Jun 1931. Elma was born on 14 Jul 1912 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. She died on 17 Jun 1980. She was buried in Greenwood Cem, Clarksville, Montgomery Co., Tennessee.

Another source shows her name as Ella Mai Lisenby.

The family relationships here are most intriguing. Lois Lillian's mother (Mary Eliza Weakley ) and father (Millard Weakley) were first cousins, their common ancestor being Louisa Lewis . After Millard died, Mary Eliza married her fourth cousin, Edgar Marion Weakley; common ance stor Robert Weakley. William Louis was Edgar's son by an earlier marriage. William was 16 an d Lois almost 9 when their parents married, so at least for a few years prior to their own ma rriage they were like brother and sister. By ancestry they are 4th cousins, Robert Weakley be ing their common ancestor.
