His obituary from the News Record reads in part as follows:
Mr. Jesse Lee Pegram, Jr., 76, of Yanceyville St., died Thursday, January 3, 2008, at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Pegram was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War stationed in Norfolk, Va., on the USS Thuban. He was a retired chief operator for the waste water treatment plants of Cone Mills with 51 years of service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Cone Post. Mr. Pegram served as a Cub Scout leader for Camp Herman Baptist Church Pack 210 and a Boy Scout leader for Lee's Chapel United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer, sports fanatic and loved to travel.
Mr. Pegram was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Matthews Pegram; mother, Rose Ada Pegram; father, Jesse Lee Pegram, Sr.; infant sister, Eloise Bernice Pegram and two brothers, Norman 'Pink' Conrad Pegram and Robert 'Bobby' Eugene Pegram.
Mr. Pegram is survived by his daughter, Becky Pegram Lewis and husband, Jack of Kernersville; son, Lee Pegram, III; brother, Raymond Pegram; sisters, Marion Davis and husband, Charlie, Brenda Welchel and husband, Mike all of Greensboro; grandchildren, Kati Lewis Groseclose and husband, Billy Wayne, Kerrie Lewis all of Kernersville, Jennifer and Joshua Pegram of Colfax and many nieces and nephews.
Jesse married 1 Helen Louise Matthews on 24 Jul 1951 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. Helen was born 2 on 25 Aug 1932 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. She died 3 on 26 Apr 1978 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., North Carolina.

Paul Parker Pegram, 73, of 1815 Ontario St., passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2001, at Hanes-Lineberry, Vanstory Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. He was born May 17, 1928, in Guilford County, the son of the late Paul Archie and Mary Elizabeth Parrish Pegram. Mr. Pegram retired after 30 years of service as a truck driver for P.I.E. Trucking. He was of the Baptist faith and was an avid golfer and fisherman. Survivors include his loving wife, Louise Minor Pegram; daughter, Patricia Pegram Stanley and husband, Ronald; son, Jerry A. Pegram and wife, Debra, all of Greensboro; grandchildren, Donna Lineback, James Stanley, Carolyn Wrenn, Jennifer Williamson, and Christopher Pegram; great-grandchildren, Jessica Lineback, Paige Lineback and Kenny Wrenn.
Paul married Louise Minor daughter of Jerry Franklin Minor and Roxie Alberta Godfrey on 9 Mar 1946 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. Louise was born on 11 Mar 1928 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. She died on 17 Jul 2005 in Greensboro, Guilford Co., North Carolina. She was buried in Lakeview Memorial Park, Guilford Co., North Carolina.

Louise Minor Pegram, 77, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Greensboro Retirement Center.
Born in Greensboro on March 11, 1928, to the late Jerry Franklin Minor and Roxie Alberta Godfrey Minor, Mrs. Pegram was a member of Glenwood Friends. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Jerry Pegram and his wife, Debra; daughter Patricia Pegram Stanley and her husband, Ronnie; sister Betty Hyatt and her husband, Ed; five grandchildren, Donna Lineback, Jamie Stanley, Carolyn Wrenn, Jennifer Williamson and Chris Pegram; and four great-grandchildren.
Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

He apparently moved to New Jersey at some point because he was living in New Jersey when he enlisted in WWII. At the time of his enlistment, he showed that he was married, a college student and working as a Lithographic Pressman. Obviously he returned to North Carolina after the war since all his children were born in Guilford Co.
