His obituary from Commercial Appeal (Memphis, TN) July 14, 1996 reads in part:

CHARLES MERIWEATHER PEGRAM, 57, of Memphis, formerly of Ripley, Miss., operations manager of the Shelby County Correction Center, died of heart failure Friday at Eastwood Medical Center in Memphis. He was a 1960 graduate of University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Alpha. He was an Eagle Scout, served as past president of the Park Village Jaycees, and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Ripley. Mr. Pegram leaves two daughters, Dianne Cochrane of Memphis and Deborah Sloan of Munford, Tenn.; a son, Charles M. Pegram Jr. of Mesquite, Texas; a sister, Patricia Pegram Duncan of Ripley; three brothers, George L. Pegram of Orlando, Fla., Lee Allen Pegram of Ripley and Thomas E. Pegram III of Memphis, and three grandchildren.

Charles married Sylvia Steinreide on 10 Feb 1962.
