We do not yet have confirmation that Elmira Pegram married James H. Lewis but we do find a James H. Lewis and wife Elmira (age 36) living next to William Pegram and his wife on the 1880 census of Forsyth Co., North Carolina. Further evidence that this is probably our Elmira is based on the fact that they have a daughter, Parthenia, which is a common family name.

Her name is obtained from the death certificate of Alvin W. which shows his mother as Betty McGee while the death certificate of Athlai E. shows his mother as Ida McGee.
She probably died in childbirth since Elias is shown as a widow on the 1900 Census taken the 19th of June and Athlai E. was born in February.

Martha married 3, 4 N. W. Gordon 1, 2 son of John Gordon and Martha Ann Pegram on 26 Apr 1886 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. N. W. Gordon was born 5, 6, 7, 8 on 18 Feb 1856 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. He died on 9 Feb 1939 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. He was buried in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
His name is always given as simply N. W. Gordon but the 1900 Census of Guilford Co., North Carolina reflects that the N. stands for Nerieous so we can understand why his full name was not used. The 1880 Census gives his name as "Muns", apparently a nickname.
