Burial will be in Faith Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery. A native of Rockingham County, he was a retired farmer. In 1900 he is found living with his sister, Elizabeth J. Goode and her family. He became a railroad conductor.
At the time he signed the WWI Registration card, he was living in Ohio and working as a fireman.
Benjamin married Ella Virginia Cook daughter of Robert Smith Cook and Annie Leyuna Frye on 16 Apr 1914 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. Ella was born 1, 2, 3 on 11 Mar 1896 in Henry Co., Virginia. She died on 13 Jan 1988 in Fort Wayne, Wayne Co., Indiana.
It seems that Robert Smith Cook may have adopted Ella and and older brother. The 1900 Census shows her parents have been married for 3 years. Her mother has had 3 children, i.e. Arthur S., b. Oct. 1894, Ella, b. Mar. 1896 and Isham, b. Dec. 1897. However, the 1910 Census shows her parents have been married for 15 years. Family records indicate that Ella was actually the daughter of Annie Frye and Thomas Bouldin. In any event, all the children continued to use Cook as their surname.
