His obituary reads in part:
"Samuel C. Pegram, resident of 109 N. Brown Street, passed away in a Raleigh hospital early Saturday morning. He had been in failing health for about two years. Mr. Pegram, son of the late Rev. Jacob R. and Willie Mason Pegram, was born at Mackeys, North Carolina Dec. 29, 1885. He was married to the former Ada Mayo of Campbell's Creek who survives. They spent most of their married life in Washington and he was associated with the First National Bank for several years and later with Von Eberstein and Pegram Co. until he retired several years ago.
Mr. Pegram was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Men's Bible class of the church, Orr Lodge, No. 104 A.F. & A.M., Washington York Rite Masonic bodies and Susan Temple Nobels of the Mystic Shrine. Surviving with his wife are one son, Samuel C. Pegram, Jr., of Richmond, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy P. Clark of Raleigh and Mrs. Eunice P. Griffen of Rocky Mount; one brother Chancey Pegram of Thomasville, and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren."

His obituary published 2 days after his death reads:
Funeral services for the Rev. Chauncey Pegram, native of Bath and former pastor of the Burlington Baptist Church, Will be held Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in Thomasville A memorial service will be held at the First Methodist Church here at 4 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Kelly Wilson, Pastor. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mr. Pegram died early Thursday in Alamance Hospital in Burlington. Surviving are his wife Ida formerly Ida Shavender of Pantego; three sons and one daughter. (From WDN - 12 April 1968)
Chauncey married Ida Shavender daughter of John B Shavender and Gertrude Weston about 1915. Ida was born 1 about 1895. She died 2 on 31 Jan 1969 in Alamance Co., North Carolina.
Her obituary published Jan. 31, 1969 in Washington Daily News in Washington, Beaufort Co., N C reads:
Mrs. Ida Shavender Pegram, age 74, of Burlington and formerly of Beaufort County died Wednesday in the Thomasville General hospital. Mrs. Pegram was the daughter of the late John B. and Gertrude Weston Shavender and widow of Rev. Chauncey M. Pegram who died in 1968.
Surviving included one daughter, Mrs. Daphne P. Ross of Burlington; three sons, John J. Pegram of Garner, Chauncey M. Pegram. Jr. of High Point, William Ruffin Pegram of Thailand; one sister, Mrs. Louise Shavender Ricks of Pantego;10 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from the Front Street United Methodist Church in Burlington by the Rev. M. W. Lawrence. A second service will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Washington at the First United Methodist Church by the Rev. M. W. Lawrence with burial to follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
