Fleming Thompson died before 1880 when we find Parthenia, shown as age 56, listed as head of household. Our sources for the West Virginia branch of this family have been Nancy Burton, a descendant of Martin J. Pegram and James Pegram, a descendant of George Nash Pegram. We are so happy to have the input from these cousins who are making a great contribution to our knowledge of the descendants of George Pegram and his wife, Wilicia Harrison. James has also provided us with his "Notes from Williamsburg" which corrects previous errors. We do not doubt that the few remaining gaps in our WV line will soon be complete.
Our most recent note from Nancy Burton, included included the following gem taken from "History of Fayette Co., West Virginia" :
"The Pegrams came to the Loop from Guilford County, NC, near Greensboro. The parents were George and Willia (Harrison) Pegram. George is said to have raised fine horses for racing while living in Carolina, and the son, Martin, drove four-horse teams transporting merchandise from Virginia to North Carolina. Other sons and daughters of George and Willia Pegram, some if not all of whom came to Fayette County, were Calvin, Pinckney, Albert, Parthena, Henry, Thomas, and Elizabeth. The parents also came here, but what date is not known. George died in 1870 and was buried on the hill near the forks of Mossy where the son Calvin lived.
Calvin and John H. Pegram appear in the Fayette County census records of 1850 and 1860 respectively. In 1850 Calvin Pegram, then a young man of twenty-one, was enumerated at the Mann Keeton home (the old William Blake place) in present Mount Hope. A few years later, he married Elizabeth, daughter of Daniel and Isabel Bragg, and lived on Pack's Branch, where he purchased seventy-five acres in 1854 from William Humphrey. His homestead was located in the first hollow below Pack's Rock and the Indian mounds, then known as Hinckley Branch. The new Packs Branch Road at this time was divided into two precincts, the lower of which was called Calvin Pegram's precinct in 1855, and a George Pegram was assigned to the upper precinct in the same year. Calvin sold his place on Hinckley Branch to Mark McCoy and bought a tract of 108 acres on the head of Mossy Creek at Haystack Mountain (the later Peter Mahoney place). This he soon disposed of also in 1868 in favor of site farther down Mossy Creek, near the mouth of Toney Fork. There he built his last log house near and back of the present Dothan Post Office. The family of Calvin and Elizabeth Pegram consisted of Phillip, James C. and others.
John H Pegram and wife Elizabeth in 1860, lived on Mossy Creek between the cabins of James C. O'Neal, also from NC, (at the Mahoney site) and Harris Bragg. In 1860 & again in 1861 he was assigned to the uppper precinct of the Mossy Creek Road. Pinckney Pegram married Eliza, widow of George Hughart and daughter of Daniel Bragg. They lived on the Mossy Creek Road. Parthena married a Hodge and lived on Pack's Branch. Children of Calvin and Elizabeth Pegram, who became permanent residents of the county , were Philip and James C."

Wilcia was the daughter of Henry Harrison as evidenced by the following: 24 Oct 1835 - John Potter, Joseph King & wife, Lucey King, Alfred D. Lowe, Jesse Hobbs (by his agent Lewis Hobbs), John Harrison (by his agent Nathan King), George Pegram, Tabitha Harrison and Polly Harrison - heirs of Henry Harrison, decd. to Nancy Harrison, widow of said Henry Harrison, decd... quitclaim to all property said Henry Harrison, decd. bequeathed by his last will and testament to his said wife, Nancy Harrison..(Guilford Co., North Carolina DB23:179)
Wilcia is shown as age 68 on 1880 C. of West Virginia where she is found living with her son Pinkney.

Daniel married Mary Ann McMichael 1 daughter of William McMichael and Rhoda on 28 Aug 1830 in Guilford Co., North Carolina. Mary was born in 1810. She died in 1857 in Guilford Co., North Carolina.
Her obituary published July 2, 1857 in The Patriot, an early Guilford County, North Carolina newspaper, read as follows:
Died in the county of Guilford, N. C. on the 9th of June, 1857, Mrs. Mary Pegram, wife of Daniel Pegram, in the 47th year of her age. In 1832 she embraced the religion of Jesus Christ, and immediately joined the M. E. Church, of which her husband was already a member. From the time she connected herself with the church, till the day of her death, she continued in the faith she professed, without wavering in her religious course. Her views of religious truth, we believe, were such as the Bible teaches; and her "faith" such as was first "delivered to the saints." In 1852 she obtained the blessing of perfect love, after which she talked much of the advantages of living in full assurance of the promises which God has given to his people. She was a devoted, affectionate wife; a kind and tender mother; and an undissembled friend. The church has lost a worthy member, and the poor a benfactress. But the afflicted family mourn not as those who have no hope; the consoling testimony is left behind, that while her seat in the church is vacant, and her presence around the family altar is seen no more, she dwells in glory, in a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens; where Christ told his disciples he would go and prepare a place for them, that where he was there they might be also. What a soul-cheering thoughts is to the bereaved relatives to know, that their loss is her eternal gain. She was afflicted for about two weeks, during which time she patiently endured her afflictions with Christian meekness. About five days before her death she appeared to be conscious of her approaching dissolution, and called all the family to the bedside, and told each one to meet her in heaven; then calling for the young men who were boarding with the family, she talked to each one, admonishing those who had embarked in the cause of God to press forward and continue faithful unto the end-to those who were living without hope in the world, she said that her daily prayers were, that they might be prepared to meet their God in peace; and furthermore entreated them to be "also ready." She then called to her companion and said, I think the bridegroom is come, for it appears that there are a company of angels around my bed, who are singing the most delightful songs I ever heard. From this time till her final departure, she appeared to be resigned to the will of her heavenly Father. How sweet to fall asleep in Christ And rest from every care and pain- How sweet to know that heav'n is true, Where God and Saints forever reign. What hopes revive the Christian's soul, When borne on angel's wings away To sing the everlasting praise Of Jesus in eternal day.

He died after 1910.
In 1910 the couple is found living in Kernersville. On the 1910 Census his age is shown as 89 and Parthenia's age is shown as 78. the couple had no children.
Israel Kerner was the grandson of Joseph Kerner (who gave his name to the present town of Kernerville, North Carolina) and Christina Kastner.1092 M ii William C. Pegram was born in May 1834. In 1860, the family is found living one house from Nancy's brother, Allen Pegram. The 1860 Census of Warren Co., Page 554 shows:
N. Harriss - 42; Nancy Harris - 38; W.N. Harriss - 6, J. P. Harriss - 3 and N. E. Harriss, age 1. Although we only have initials on the 1860 census, the names and ages match the 1880 Census with the exception that Newsom P. on the 1880 census seems to be the W. N. on the 1860 Census. It appears the young daughters shown on the 1850 Census died in childhood.
Nancy married 1 Newsom Harriss son of William Harriss and Martha Riggan on 13 Dec 1843 in Warren Co., North Carolina. Newsom was born 2, 3 in 1817 in Warren Co., North Carolina.
He is identified as Newton Harris on the 1850 Census of Warren Co., North Carolina.
They had the following children:

Until we reviewed the 1900 Census of Warren Co. page by page, we had always assumed that Elizabeth had no children. Then suddenly she appears as the mother-in-law in the home of her daughter and her husband.
Elizabeth married 2 George W. Brack 1 son of Solomon Brock (Brack) and Jane (Jinsey) Shearin on 25 Mar 1856 in Warren Co., North Carolina. George was born in 1832 in North Carolina. He died before 1876.
In the Administration of the Estate of her father, William Pegram, she is identified as the widow of George Brack or Brach. The 1850 census of Warren Co., North Carolina uses shows the spelling to be Brake. George W. Brach served as a private in Co. B, 30th North Carolina Infantry during the Civil War, having enlisted on 16 August 1861. His enlistment shows his age as 26 which differs from the 1850 census.
