The 1900 Census of McCracken Co., Kentucky shows the couple have been married for 24 years. They have had 8 children, all living. Six children are still at home. Clarence is found boarding nearby and Elizabeth has apparently married.
Althought the date of birth is given as 1857, her age is given as age 45. Other sources have given her place of birth as Crittenden Co., Alabama but the 1900 Census shows she was born in Arkansas.
Laura married 2 John Calvin Gary 1 son of George C. Gary and Mary S. Hill on 21 Dec 1876 in Christian Co., Kentucky. John was born 3 on 19 Oct 1854 in Kentucky. He died in 1927 in San Dimas, California.
Other souces have given his name as Calvin Gray but we know the last name is Gary and on the 1900 Census the given name is John.

With many of the leading measures resulting in the permanent development of the city of Shelbyville, Elliott B. Beard has been identified, and his efforts have been such that they have not only won him a place among the prominent people of the city, but have also contributed in a large measure to the general improvement and development of the city along lines of substantial advancement. At the bar and in the handling of business interests, Mr. Beard has become a factor in the life of Shelbyville, which is his native town and has been his continued place of residence, and of business. Elliott B. Beard is a native of Shelby county, Kentucky, born January 15, 1868, the son of Dr. William F. and Matilda (Roberts) Beard. The father was born near Lexington, Kentucky, in 1835, the son of Joseph M. Beard, who was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1803, the son of Henry Beard, who was a native of Ireland, and settled first at Philadelphia and then in Fayette county, Kentucky, in 1805. Joseph M. Beard, grandfather of Mr. Beard, removed from Fayette county, to Oldham county, from where Dr. Beard, our subject's father, removed to Christiansburg, Shelby county, where he practiced medicine until 1890, when he removed to Shelbyville, where he has since practiced and is now the leading physician of Shelby county. Dr. Beard was graduated from the Medical Department of the University of Louisville in the class of 1859. His wife, Matilda Roberts Beard, was born in Shelby county, and was the daughter of William Roberts, also a native of Shelby county. Their son Elliott B. attended the public schools and was graduated from Georgetown (Ky.) College in 1890 with the degree of A.M. He taught for one year, then read law in the office of Pryor J. Foree, Shelbyville, and as admitted to the bar in 1893. Practical industry, wisely and vigorously applied, never fails in securing a due measure of success, and the well known and able business man of whom this sketch is written has given in his career an exemplification of the truth of the statement. Soon after entering the practice of law, Mr. Beard formed a partnership with Judge Charles C. Marshall, which partnership was terminated in 1907 when Judge Marshall went on the circuit bench. Mr. Beard has served with credit in several positions and has in every instance received the commendation of his supporters and fellow-citizens. He served as judge of the city police court from 1896 to 1900, as city attorney from 1900 to 1902 and as master commissioner of Shelby county courts from 1903 to 1906 and as a member of the Kentucky Legislature in the session of 1908. He is an interested member of the Masonic Order, and has advanced to a high position in its lodges, being a member of Solomon Lodge No. 5, F. & A. M., Shelbyville Chapter No. 2, R.A.M. and Shelby Commandery No. 32. He was one of a committee selected to prepare a book on Masonic laws of Kentucky. 6316. Stephen Edward Rives 1 (Henry Archer Rives , Stephen Turner Rives , William McGuffy Rives , Thomas Henry Rives , Mary Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born 2 on 25 Oct 1843 in Montgomery Co., Tennessee. He died on 30 Jan 1926 in Christian Co., Kentucky.
His obituary as printed in the Reliques of Rives reads in part as follows:
Stephen Edward Rives "83 years old prominent Christian county [Ky.] farmer for several years, died at 10 o'clock this morning [1926] at the home of his son, Henry, on East Ninth Street [Hopkinsville] from the infirmities of age. Mr. Rives was born in Montgomery county, Tennessee, a son of Henry and Eleanor Tillotson Rives, a prominent Tennessee family. He moved to Christian county several years ago and made his residence near Pembroke until a few months ago, when he came to live with his son. Mr. Rives was always known for his genial and kindly disposition. He was a lifelong Christian and a member of the Salem Baptist Church in the county. He leaves one sister, Mrs. Mildred Garrott, and one brother, H. P. Rives, both of Shelbyville, Ky. He is also survived by two sons, Henry and Edward and three daughters, Miss Eunice Rives, of near Pembroke, Mrs. Charles Davidson and Mrs. Margaret Powell, both of Chicago. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the old Pendleton farm, his former home, near Pembroke, with burial at the family graveyard."

Stephen married Ann Elizabeth Halbrook on 24 Dec 1877. Ann was born about 1849 in Graves Co., Kentucky.
She was probably the grand-daughter of John Halbrook and his wife, Elizabeth. The 1850 Census of Graves Co., Kentucky, page 370, shows:
John Halbrook, age 60; Elizabeth, age 58; Martha, age 39; Eliza, age 1; Freeman, age 16.
Close by there is the family of F. G. Halbrook, probably a son of John. However, he has a daughter, Sarah, also age 1.
Stephen and Ann had the following children:

Mary married Benjamin Franklin Briggs 1, 2, 3 son of William Briggs and Julia Watwood on 26 Apr 1883. Benjamin was born 4 on 27 Aug 1848 in Sumner Co., Tennessee. He died 5 on 18 Sep 1922.
From Kentucky: A History of the State we have the following: "Benjamin F. Briggs, Graves County, editor of the Mayfield Monitor, was born August 27, 1848, in Sumner County, Tenn. In 1870 he commenced to learn the art of printing; three years later he established the Banner of Temperance. This paper he conducted about two years. In 1875 the Mayfield Monitor was established, and now has an extensive circulation. Mr. Briggs was married April 26, 1883, to Miss Mary Rives, of Mayfield; they have one child, a daughter. Mr. Briggs is a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Mrs. Briggs is a member of the Baptist Church. "
