There were purportedly one or two additional marriages but we do not have their names. There were no children born to the later marriages. In 1920, his wife's name appears to be Ester E. Her son by a prior marriage, Charles Hurt, age 13, is also in the home. His only children remaining in the home are Jesse D.,

Joseph can be found in the census for Ft. Worth, Texas in 1910. The family story is that he heard that horses were selling very well in Texas and that the took a railroad carload of Kentucky horses there to sell. He spent most of his adult life in Hillsborough Co., Florida, though he took his wife back to Kentucky for the birth of each of their children.
Joseph married Mary Ellen Smith in 1884.

Her age from family records seems to be in error since she is on th 1880 Cesus and is shown as age 30 on the 1910 census.
