Burlington — Mr. Herbert L. Lutterloh, 76, of 626 Monroe Holt Road, Graham, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 at Duke University Medical Center after five months of declining health. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Mrs. Maxine Stover Lutterloh, who survives, and the son of Mr. Edgar M. Lutterloh, and Mrs. Alice Sasser Lutterloh, both deceased. He was retired from Burlington Industries after more than 30 years of service. He was a Baptist. Survivors other than his wife of the home include a daughter, Mrs. June Lutterloh Ferguson of Burlington; a son, Mr. Gary Lewis Lutterloh of Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Patsy Allison of Gibsonville, and Mrs. Rachel Moody of Burlington; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Buddy Lee Lutterloh; two sisters, Mrs. Iris Webster, and Mrs. Emma Lee Matthews; and three brothers, Mr. Edgar B. Lutterloh, Mr. Charles Lutterloh, and Mr. Ralph Lutterloh. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rich and Thompson Chapel in Burlington by the Rev. Wade Cox, pastor of Nall Memorial Baptist Church, and the Rev. Ralph Rivers, pastor emeritus, of Community Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home for one hour before the service, and at other times at the home.

Herbert married Maxine Stover.

13915. Helen Sarah Wilkinson (Robert W Wilkinson , Willard Wood Wilkinson , Robert Wilkinson , Mary Rives , Thomas Henry Rives , Mary Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born on 23 Jul 1892 in Mitchell, South Dakota.

Comments by unknown author of the Wilkinson genealogy:

" Helen Sarah was the only surviving child born to Robert W Wilkinson and Anna Carey. She was born in 1892 in Mitchell, South Dakota while her father was working on the Seaman Farms. Helen started school in Sioux City, Iowa, and preparatory school followed at Goodrich, North Dakota. In 1912 she attended the University of North Dakota. After two years studying for her teaching degree, Helen taught a short summer term out of Goodrich. She later taught at Wing and became prinicipal of the small school there.

A young man named Fred Hugh Scallon visited his brother Joe in Wing sometime around 1914. Helen met Fred and they were engaged that year. Following her engagement, Helen took a short vacation trip to Yellowstone Park and then went on to Oregon. Fred had gone into farming with Joe. Helen continued to teach on a parttime basis until 1918.

Their daughter, Mary, was born in 1917. Helen loved active sports. Riding and tennis were especially her forte. She always had her horse and could match anyone in a race. Daughter, Ann, was born in 1922.

Fred had gone west to Oregon to make a new home for the family shortly after Ann's birth. Helen, the girls, and cousin Alice travelled to Oregon by train about six weeks later.

They established their home in Portland in 1922 until moving to the farm in Canby in 1928. During the next years, they raised their daughters and saw them married. In 1950, Fred died. Helen managed the farm and went back to work. She was a receptionist in the nursing school of Providence Hospital and later worked in medical records. She retired in 1969. Throughout this period, Helen lived on the farm, drove a round trip of 50 miles a day, and managed the rental and improvements of the farm."

Helen married Fred Hugh Scallon on 13 Nov 1915 in Wing, North Dakota. Fred was born on 8 Aug 1891 in Ackley, Hardin Co., Iowa. He died on 23 Aug 1950 in Canby, Oregon.
