Burlington — Mrs. Mary Alma Stockard Bivins, 102, formerly of Brown Avenue, died Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Burlington because of failing health. A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Mr. Robert Andrew “Bob” Bivins, and the daughter of Mr. Arthur T. Stockard and Mrs. Sarah “Sallie” Lutterloh Stockard Hargrove, both deceased. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Mr. Charles F. (Lois) Bivins of Burlington; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Forrest Grey Bivins. The funeral will be conducted at 7 p.m. this evening at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jim Hobbs, pastor of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Providence United Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel, and at other times at the home of a granddaughter, Mrs. Jeannine Tucker, 2156 Basin Creek Road, Burlington.
