14896. James Clifton Pegram (James Lee , Thomas Franklin , Edward , George Scott , George , George , Daniel , George ) was born ¹ on 5 Jul 1915. He died on 4 Jun 2006 in Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co., North Carolina.

His obituary from the Charlotte Observer reads in part:
Maj. Pegram completed his life's journey of nearly 91 years on Sunday, June 4, 2006, and went to be with his Lord and Savior. His daughters, Janette and Roseanne were by his side. Dad was born July 5, 1915 in Vaiden, MS to Mittie Doster and James Lee Pegram, the third of nine children. Jim resided in Mint Hill with his daughter Janette and her husband Lt. Colonel Bob Sumner.
Dad was a patriot who served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps, the Civilian Conservation Corps, the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard. He was a sharpshooter in the Marines and also on the U.S. Army Rifle team. Dad served in the European Theatre during World War II, and in the Korean War. He was an ingenious and creative man who could make something out of odds and ends that most people throw away. He loved the earth and spent hours nourishing his vegetable garden and beautiful flowers - roses were his specialty. Harvesting, preserving, and canning his garden bounty and fig tree crop was a great source of pleasure for him and greater pleasure for those who tasted it! He loved to share his bounty with others. We want to thank our dad for the example he set and for the life he sacrificed for us.
Jim was married to Ruth Phillips in 1938 and they had a daughter, Jimmie Ruth. After her death, Jim married Rosa Louise Freeman in 1942 and had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary before her death in 2002. Dad leaves a legacy with his children, Ruth Pipes of Amarillo, TX.; James Pegram of Conyers, GA and his wife Lin; Janette Smith-Sumner and husband Bob of Mint Hill, NC; Roseanne Ranney of Parsippany, NJ; and John Pegram of Charlotte. He is survived also by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; sisters Mattie Dean of Eupora, MS and Marie King, of Winona, MS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Entombment will follow at Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum.

James married ¹ Sarah Ruth Phillips on 23 Nov 1938. Sarah was born ² on 20 Apr 1917 in Webster Co., Mississippi. She died ³ on 18 Aug 1939 in Mississippi. She was buried ⁴ in Bethel Cemetery, Calhoun Co., Mississippi.

They had the following children:

Katie married Vaughn Vernon Pischke on 4 Jun 1943 in Jackson Co., Mississippi.

He was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War.

Vaughn and Katie had the following children:
