Allan Goldston was kind enough to send us a copy of his obituary which reads in part:
"Whiteville (NC) - Aubra Fredrick “Fred” Goldston, 88, of Whiteville, died Friday at Liberty Commons in Whiteville.
Mr. Goldston was the son of the late Aubra Frank Goldston and Etta Burns Goldston. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Before retirement, Mr. Goldston was the owner of Goldston’s Hotel at Lake Waccamaw and also the owner of Whiteville Chain Saw. During Mr. Goldston’s free time he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Goldston is survived by his wife, Linda H. Goldston of Whiteville; two sons, Jimmy Goldston of Whiteville and Len Goldston of Charlotte.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 4-5:30 p. m. at McKenzie Mortuary. The funeral will be Monday, September 23, 2002, at New Hope Baptist Church at 2 p. m. with Rev. Larry Davis officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery."
