KERNERSVILLE - Mr. George Irvin Pegram, 78, of Britthaven of Kernersville, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hanes-Lineberry, Pierce Chapel, led by the Rev. Ed Gaines. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service at the funeral home. Mr. Pegram was born July 6, 1924, in Forsyth County to the late Willie and Lula Jones Pegram. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Pittsburgh Steel. He was a loving husband and father. He was preceded in death by two children, Walter Pegram and Brenda Thierry. He Is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dorothy Gordon Pegram of Kernersville; a daughter, Barbara Walsh of Levittown, Pa.; two brothers, Paul Pegram of Walkertown and Tony Pegram of Winston-Salem; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the employees of Britthaven of Kernersville for all the loving care which was provided during his residence there. Memorial contributions may be made to Britthaven of Kernersville, 728 Piney Grove Road, Kernersville, NC 27284.

CLEMMONS - Mr. William Spencer Pegram, 75, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center after a short illness. He was born March 1, 1927, in Forsyth County to Walter Curtis and Pearl Mae Larrimore Pegram. He was a member of Love's United Methodist Church and attended Mount Tabor United Methodist Church. He was retired from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center as the associate director of environmental services. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of the Salem Masonic Lodge. He was an avid bowler and a supporter of youth bowling. He was a life-time member and past director, vice president and president of the Piedmont Bowling Association, a vice president and board of directors member of the N.C. State Bowling Associa-tion, director of the Southeast Bowling Association and a Hall of Fame member of the Piedmont Bowling Association. Mr. Pegram was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Vera Holcomb. Surviving are his wife, Ellen Hutchins Pegram of the home; a daughter, Carolyn Lawson and husband, Jeff of Kernersville; a stepgrand-son, Reed Lawson; a brother, Leon Pegram of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Bertie Cranfill and husband Richard of Reidsville; and a brother-in-law, Mickey Holcomb of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church by Dr. Ken Carter and the Rev. Lance Scarlett. Burial will follow in Love's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Walker-town.

Burial was in the Long Cemetery under the direction of the Wheeler Funeral Home. Mr. EDWARDS was born to Andrew Jackson EDWARDS and Sally E. MARSHALL EDWARDS on May 21, 1917, in Nicut. He died at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 4, at the age of 65. Survivors include the wife, Alice of the home; two daughters, Modell and Anita; two sons, Don and Ronald; one brother, Albert; five sisters, Bon, Lucy, Grace, Clarious and Mary; an uncle, Bush; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
