The 1900 Census does not give the date of birth but gives his age as 30. It also shows he was born in West Virginia but family records show he was born in Ohio. The Census shows the couple have been married for 12 years. They have had 4 children, all living in the home. This clearly raises a problem about Ella Lillian. She could not have been married already leaving the possibility that she was born after 1900 but at the moment we have no explanation.
The 1880 Census of Fayette Co., Virginia shows he was born in Ohio.
