"Layman's Chapel.--The original class at Layman's Chapel was organized in the fall of 1866, in the school-house, by Samuel, George and William Layman and their wives. The first pastor was the Rev. S.E. Pendleton, with Samuel Johnston as assistant. In February, 1877, Rev. Johnston held a very successful revival meeting, and nearly the whole community united with the church--many of them now being pillars in the church. Rev. C. Arnold was next pastor of Lincoln Circuit, of which Layman's Chapel is one appointment. Rev. H.C. Adams followed him in the fall of 1868. In the spring of 1869 trustees were elected as follows: Samuel, George and William Layman, Wm. Moore, W.A. Pegram and A.B. Hageman. The chapel was completed and dedicated in September following..."

William B. Pegram, Omicron '38, of Long Beach, California, died February 27, 2007. "Bill" was born in Washington, DC and shortly thereafter moved with his parents to Webster Grove, MO, a suburb of St. Louis. He graduated from the University of Illinois with dual majors in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration in 1938. Bill married his college sweetheart, Margaret Miesse, (Kappa Alpha Theta), in 1940. He was very proud of his work during World War II on the Tennessee Valley Project. His work took him across the country over the years. He and his family lived in Milton, MA; Westwood; Ridgewood, NJ; Pottstown, PA; Ventura and Downey, CA. His world crumbled when his beloved wife died in 1982. Bill then moved to Leisure World and remarried. Upon the death of his second wife, he moved to Bixby Knolls Retirement Towers in Long Beach and lived there until his death. Bill is survived by his two daughters: Sarah Pegram Nelson and her husband, Cliff, of Pacific Palisades and Margaret (Mimi) Pegram Toberman and her husband, Brad, and their two children, Joshua and Zachary, of Manhattan Beach. He is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews. bill was an ardent reader, thinker and puzzle solver. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be private. Bill is interred at Westwood Memorial Cemetery.
William married Margaret Miesse. Margaret was born on 10 Oct 1918 in Ohio. She died on 9 Aug 1982 in Los Angeles Co., California.

Kolbe about 1926. Henry was born 1 on 11 May 1892 in Minnesota. He died 2 in May 1976 in Miller, Lawrence Co., Missouri.
