His obituary reads as follows:
Charles Edward Pegram, 73, of Lincoln died at 11:56 p.m. Friday (Jan. 14, 2005) in the emergency room of Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Peasley Funeral Home, 401 Delavan St., Lincoln, officiated by Dr. Tom Ewald of Lincoln Christian College and Seminary. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Zion Lutheran Elementary School Fund.
Mr. Pegram was born Oct. 31, 1931, a son of Thomas McConnell and Ruth Keys Pegram, and was a lifelong resident of Lincoln. He married Marilyn Madigan on June 19, 1955. She survives.
He is also survived by three daughters: Julia (Mark) Gerardot, Lincoln; Dr. Lori Pegram, Bloomington; and Elizabeth Leake, Sycamore; and one son, Dan (Susan) Pegram, who lives with his family on the Pegram farm. He will also be missed by his six grandchildren: Jarrod Gerardot, Luke Gerardot, Evan Leake, Georgia Leake, Devin Pegram and Sam Pegram. He is survived by two brothers, Alan of Mount Pulaski and Rick of Tucson, Ariz.
Mr. Pegram graduated from Lincoln High School and attended Lincoln College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was the owner of Pegram Oil Company and served as the road commissioner of East Lincoln Township from 1966 to 1991. His wish was to be remembered for being responsible for paving 50 miles of country roads in East Lincoln Township.
His passion for history made him an avid reader. He was a proud member of the American Truck Historical Society and the Land of Lincoln Antique Tractor Club. He loved Irish music, good food and telling one of "Grandpa's stories." In retirement, he and his wife of almost 50 years loved to watch the birds in their yard, the deer at Madigan State Park, and the eagles and tugboats along the Illinois River.
Charles married 1 Marilyn Rose Madigan on 19 Jun 1955 in Lincoln, Logan Co., Illinois. Marilyn was born 2 on 25 Jul 1936.

She was a graduate of Lincoln College and worked as an assistant librarian.
Her obituary which appeared in State Journal-Register, Springfield, Illinois reads in part:
Donna H. Pegram, 65, of Lincoln died Wednesday at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Survivors: husband, Alan; a son, Thomas Lee Pegram of Lincoln; two daughters, Marcia Satterfield of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mary Ann Nordstrom of Morris; three grandsons; a brother, Walter A. Harmsen of Emden; two sisters, Julia Cross of Emden and Rosemary Conrady of Elkhart.
