2311. Richard Bullard Rives 1, 2 (Stephen Turner Rives , William McGuffy Rives , Thomas Henry Rives , Mary Pegram , Daniel , George ) was born 3 about 1823 in Warren Co., North Carolina.
He resided before the War Between the States near Greenfield in Illinois, and afterwards in Dickson Co., Tennessee, where he died. During the war he served as a private in Walker's Legion, Co. K, 2nd (Robinson's) Tenn. Inf., while his only known son served in the Union Army. Richard B. Rives is said to have married four times but only the names of his third wife, Lucy Rodway,(Rodrey) of Holly Springs, Miss., and his fourth wife, Mrs. Rena Ladd, are known. He is understood to have had children only by his first, third, and fourth marriages.

Ruben shows up as a farmer, on the 1860 census in Graves County with his brother James Duncan Rives. James returned to Tennessee to fight for the Confederacy during the Civil War.
