William married Nettie Rumbley daughter of William Rumbley and Nancy J. on 3 Dec 1891 in Rockingham Co., North Carolina. Nettie was born in 1873 in Rockingham Co., North Carolina. She died before 1920.
Her name is shown as Mary on the 1900 Census which also has her birth date as 1878. We assume the correct date is 1873 as evidenced by her marriage record showing she was 18 when she married in 1891.

We found a copy of his obituary in the Pegram family papers in the Special Collections Library at Duke University. The year was penciled in but the obituary which appears to be from a Greensboro, North Carolina paper reads:
"Winston-Salem, Nov. 20 - William Jasper Pegram, 57, of Winston-Salem died at a local hospital this morning. He had been in declining health for some time and seriously ill for two days. He was born in Rockingham Couny. He spent his early life in Germanton in Stokes County and had lived in Winston-Salem for the last 35 years. He was employed by the Southern Railroad as a conductor. He was a member of Centenary Methodist Church and was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. He was married in 1918 to Miss Emily Graves who survives. Other survivors include Mrs. Edward Eustis of Orlando, Fla.; one son, W. J. Pegram, Jr. of the U. S. Army in Korea; one sister, Mrs. Joe Parsons of Ashboro, and two brothers, Oscar M. Pegram of New York City, and Edgar Pegram of Asheboro. Funeral will be held at Vogler's Chapel at 3:30 p.m. Thusday by Dr. Mark Depp. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery."
Note: The 1900 Census shows his name as William C. Pegram but we have shown his name as it appears in his obituary which we consider to be more accurate.William married Emily Graves in 1918. 8365 M ii David H. Stokesdale - Mrs. Ruby Gann Vernon, 79, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002, at Moses Cone Hospital. Mrs. Vernon was a devoted servant of the Lord, expressed in her dedicated volunteer service to the Alzheimer's Wing at Countryside Manor and within the community of Stokesdale. A Guilford County native, Mrs. Vernon was born on Jan. 15, 1923, the daughter of Joseph Benjamin and Anna Pegram Gann. She was retired from Countryside Manor and a lifelong member of Flat Rock United Methodist Church. Her husband, Thomas Edward Vernon and daughter Becky Vernon Edwards preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny and Beverly Vernon of Stokesdale and Jerry and Ann Vernon of Alexandria, Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and Mike Jordan of Summerfield, Cathy and Drew Eiker of McLeansville, Cindy and Jack Norris of Summerfield; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.Ruby married Thomas Edward Vernon son of Edward H.
