Mr. Ralph Pegram, 78, of 1611 Lucas Avenue, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 1998, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service, with military honors, will be held for Mr. Pegram at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 1998, in the Veteran's Circle of Forest Lawn Cemetery.

A native of Guilford County, Mr. Pegram was born on May 17, 1919, to the late Roby Benton and Myrtle Johnson Pegram. A lifelong resident of Greensboro, Mr. Pegram was a retired masonary contractor. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as a 1st Sergeant in the NC National Guard, and in the 505th Field Artillery Battalion and the 105th Howitzer Battery. Mr. Pegram was a highly decorated soldier being awarded the Silver Star, five Bronze Stars, D-Day Landing Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal, Army Occupation Victory Medal, Honor Fidelity Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of American Legion Post 386, which named the "Ralph Pegram Library'' in his honor.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ethel Whitesell Pegram of the home; a son, Edward B. "Ben'' Pegram and his wife, Sylvia; grandson, Benny Pegram; granddaughter, Sherri Pegram King and her husband, Rick; great-grandchildren, Kandis and Pete King; brothers, Oscar Pegram and Howard Pegram; sisters, Hessie Pegram Straughn and Mary Pegram McCaskill; all of Greensboro. Mr. Pegram was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer Leroy Pegram; Cleo Pegram; Earl Pegram; William Pegram; and sisters, Gladys Pegram Miller and Ruby Pegram Whitesell.

Ralph married Ethel Whitesell.

He moved to Manatee County, Fla., from Lakewood, Colorado. He had been a winter resident since 1984. He was a retired manager for an insurance company.
Mr. Pegram is survived by his wife, Betty Pegram of Bradenton, Fla.; daughters, Pamela Pegram of Westminster, Colo., and Debra Pegram of Lakewood, Colo.; sisters, Helen Birchall of Franklinville, Millie Moore of Greensboro, and Patricia Greenway of Greensboro.

Anita Ann Pegram and Russell Raymond Miller III were united in marriage Saturday, March 31, 2001, at 6 oclock in the evening. The ceremony was held at Liberty Wesleyan Church in Summerfield, North Carolina. The Reverend Charles David Surrett officiated. Rebecca Smith Surrett directed the wedding. Following the ceremony a reception was held at Starmount Forest Country Club. On Friday evening, the parents of the groom hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Greensboro Marriott. Charlene Knight Barham, aunt of the bride, hosted a Bridesmaids Luncheon at Starmount Forest Country Club on Friday.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frankie Ronald Pegram of Summerfield. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Clifton Barham Sr. of Summerfield, and Mrs. Mary Upton Underwood of Pleasant Garden. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a doctor of pharmacy with distinction. She is the nephrology staff pharmacist at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Raymond Miller Jr. of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Grey Howell of Durham, Mrs. Barbara Bozarth Miller of Greensboro, and the late Mr. Russell Raymond Miller. He is a cum laude graduate of Duke University with a bachelors degree in history and biology and of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a master of public health in epidemiology. He will graduate in May 2001 with his doctor of medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and will begin his medical residency at the University of Virginia in June..
The bride was attended by her sister, Angel Tharrington, of Summerfield, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Kelly Barham-Baird of Winston-Salem, Susan Barham of Chapel Hill, Beverly Bower of Durham, and Julie Miller of Greensboro. Honorary bridesmaids were Lisa Blanton of Lawndale, North Carolina, Cindy Greeson of Summerfield, and Dana Wells of Knightdale, North Carolina. Tina Hicks registered guests and Karen Pegram was program attendant. Julia Nance and Laura Nance of Wilmington, North Carolina, were flower girls.
The groom chose his father as best man. Groomsmen were Michael Capps of Nashville, Tennessee, Rick Miller of Charlotte, Brant Tharrington of Summerfield, and Buddy Wrenn of Greensboro.
The couple will reside in Winston-Salem.

Mr. Larry Franklin Pegram, Sr., 80, died Friday, Jan. 12, 1996. He is survived by daughters, Connie Rogers of Greensboro, Norma Pegram of Madison; sons, Frank Pegram of Clearwater, Florida., Jerry Pegram of Winnebow; sisters, Blanch Presnell of Randleman, Hazel Kidd of Central Falls and Mary Johnson of Anderson, S. C.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Pleasant Garden — Mr. June W. Pegram, 74, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at Moses Cone Hospital. A celebration of June W. Pegram's home going, to be with his Jesus, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Clyde Gilmore Memorial Park. He was born Feb. 6, 1927, in Guilford County, the son of the late June Washington Pegram and Ellen Blair Pegram. He was retired from Carolina Aluminum and was a member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, where he was also a member of the Higher Ground Sunday school class. Mr. Pegram was a CB'er and loved to frame his wife's art. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Ruby Pegram; sons, Steven Ray Pegram and wife, Linda of Greensboro, Ronald Lee Pegram and wife, Michele of Browns Summit, Harold David Pegram of Greensboro; sisters, Mrs. Walter Margaret Jessup, Mrs. Harold Rachel Combs, Mrs. Nancy Sutton, Miss Peggy Pegram, Mrs. Richard Elizabeth Joyner, Ms. Sarah Willard, Mrs. Bill Judy Eylet, all of Greensboro; brothers, Troy Pegram of Randleman, Richard Pegram of Greensboro and Lindsay Pegram of Kernersville; grandchildren, Jeremy, Jason, Tony, Thomas, Daniel and Ronnie Pegram Jr., Christopher Calhoun and Amanda Dellinger; and two great-grandchildren, Luke and Brooke Pegram.

June married Mary Ruby about 1949.
