He was the husband of Mrs. Jane Bell Gibbs and a son of the late George W. and Mrs. Claudia Silverthorne Gibbs. The Engelhard, Hyde Co., NC, native lived in the Virginia Beach, VA area for 25 years. Others surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Gibbs Peek of Norfolk, VA and Mrs. Florence Gibbs Joyner of Richmond, VA; four sons, Bromley C. Gibbs of Norfolk, Gleason D. Gibbs and Berry A. Gibbs of Virginia Beach, VA and Ames R. Gibbs of the Army; and two brothers, Julian Gibbs of Philadelphia, PA and Orlian Gibbs of Chesapeake, VA. The body was taken to the H. D.
