DUNN - Elbert Lee ENGLISH, 71, of Dunn, N.C. died November 5, 2004, in the Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital. He was born in Swan Quarter, NC to the late Eldridge and Zulean Pegram English and was the widower of the late Elsie Wright English. He was a retired heavy machine operator and formerly lived in Kitty Hawk, NC. Mr. English is survived by two daughters, Lynn Kirkpatrick and husband, Art, of Washington, DC and Linda Ellington and husband, Tommy of Faison, NC; five sons, Gene English and wife, Diane, of Raleigh, NC, Eddy English of Dillard, OR, Ray English and wife, Pat, of Myrtle, MS, Linwood English and wife, Elena of Raleigh, NC and James English and wife, Robin of Orland, Fl; two sisters, Gertrude Armstrong of Elizabeth City and Josephine Fletcher of Monroe, Louisiana; one brother, Eugene English of Shiloh, NC and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 8, 2004, at 2:00pm in the Twiford Memorial Chapel, Church St., by Rev. Roland Cooper. Burial will be New Hollywood Cemetery. Funeral Services Will Be Conducted From Home Wednesday Afternoon Mrs. Cassie N. Ratcliff, 26, wife of Horace Ratcliff, of Route 1, Pinetown, died in a local hospital early this morning following an illness of five weeks.
Mrs. Ratcliff was born June 1, 1919, daughter of Mrs. Cora Pegram Craddock and the late Henry Craddock, of Beaufort County. She was a member of the Christian Church of Belhaven.
Surviving are her husband, one son, Harold; one daughter, Lula Mae; her mother; two sisters, Miss Sarah Craddock, of Route 1, Pinetown and Mrs. Ruth Ratcliff of Pantego, and two brothers, William Craddock, of Pinetown, and Troy Craddock, of Bridgeton (Craven Co., NC).
Funeral services will be conducted from the home in the Free Union section, Route 1, Pinetown, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Duffy Toler in charge. Interment will follow in the Ratcliff Family Cemetery.
Cassie married (1) Horace Pittman Ratcliff in 1941 in Pitt Co., North Carolina. Horace was born on 9 Sep 1911. He died on 22 Jul 1994.
