ENGELHARD - Ms. Wanda Gibbs MANN, 64, of 1947 White Plains Road, Engelhard, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at Pungo District Hospital, Belhaven. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter. Ms. Mann was born in Hyde County on Sept. 9, 1941. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Rena Harris Gibbs. She had worked for the last several years as a clerk with R.S. Spencer, Inc. in Engelhard. She was a member of the former Middletown Christian Church. Survivors include one son, Gregory D. Mann of Chocowinity; two daughters, Sherry M. Stotesberry of Swan Quarter and Beverly M. Paul of Bath; one grandchild; three step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Wanda married Walter Davis Mann son of Marion Spencer Mann and Bessie Williams on 23 Apr 1960. Walter was born on 11 Oct 1937 in Hyde Co., North Carolina. He died on 20 Jul 1999 in Belhaven, Beaufort Co., North Carolina.
His obituary from the Coastland Times - Thursday, July 22, 1999, reads in part as follows:
Walter Davis Mann, 61, died Tuesday evening, July 20, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven. Born in Hyde County, October 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Marion Spencer and Bessie Williams Mann. He was married to the former Wanda Gibbs on April 23, 1960. He served in the U.S. Army in the 1960's and was a retired shipping operator with Weyerhaeuser Corporation. Surviving are a son, Gregory Mann of Belhaven; two daughters: Sherry M. Stotesberry and Beverly M. Paul, both of Swan Quarter; a brother, Raymond Cuthrell of Cape Coral, Fla.; five sisters: Bessie Edwards, Dorothy Ramsey and Claudia Bright, all of Chesapeake, Va., Ella Wright of Woodbury, N.J. and Rose Marshall of Hammonton, N.J.; and one granddaughter. Mr. Mann was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Marion Spencer Mann, Jr. and sisters, Elsie Donato, Lucille Richardson and Virginia Cuthrell.

15929. Cecilia Gayle Jones (Earline Estelle Gibbs , Ella Mae Sadler , Amanda Louise (Mollie) Midyette , Amanda Pegram , Zachariah , Daniel , Daniel , Daniel , George ) was born on 30 Nov 1935 in Ponzer, North Carolina.
Gayle attended Belhaven schools except for about 1/2 year in Swan Quarter, NC. She had close ties there staying with her Aunt Ina much of the time. She and George were married in the home of this favorite Aunt on Dec 27, 1955.
Gayle attended East Carolina College for one year before getting married. Later in life she returned to the community college schools in Virginia and got an AA degree in Accounting. The family moved several times living in Virginia Beach Va, Norfolk Va, Woodbury NJ, McAlester Okla. Yorktown, Va, and Springfield before retiring to WIlliamsburg, Va.
She has two daughters and two grandchildren. Favorite things to do are traveling, sailing, and reading.
Cecilia married George Thomas Riddick son of George Thomas Riddick and Unknown on 27 Dec 1955 in Swan Quarter, Hyde Co., North Carolina. George was born on 13 Mar 1931 in Belhaven, Beaufort Co., North Carolina.
George attended Belhaven NC schools. Attending East Carolina College for 1 1/2 years before enlisting in the US Navy. He served on the battleship Iowa and was there when he and Gayle married. The Navy was his first love and he continued to serve for 30 years reaching the rank of Commander. After he retired he was employed by the Navy Department, Washington, DC for 10 years, attaining the the rate of a GM15. Being a seaman his love of the water etc, Makai (his sailboat) is another love of his life. He loves to travel having seen most of the world. George is a charter member of the New Town United Methodist Church, Williamsburg, Virginia.
George and Cecilia had the following children:

Georgia graduated Old Virgina University in 1978. She has taught in Elizabeth City, NC. More recentlly she works for the chamber of Commerce in Richmond Va. Georgia is a cat lover and has not been without at least one in her whole life. Mom wrote this.Georgia married John Francis Kuemmerle on 23 Jun 1986 in Westwood Babtist Church, Springfield, Va. John was born on 13 Jun 1956 in Minnosota.

UC Messenger--Monday, February 9, 2004Earl Carroll Earl Carroll, 79, of Whittier, Calif., a former resident of this area, died Feb. 1, 2004, at the home of his son, William Perry Carroll of Lake Isabella, Calif. Arrangements are incomplete. He was born Nov. 8, 1924, in Obion County, son of the late Fred B. and Bertha May (Chandler) Carroll of the Minnick community. He was a graduate of the former Cloverdale High School and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who entered service to his country in May 1943. He was a graduate of the Medical Tech School at Brook General Hospital in November 1943 and he served in several hospitals in England and France until March 1946. He was a retired employee of the Frito Lay Co. He is also survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Palmer, whom he married May 31, 1953, in Alhambra, Calif.; his daughter, Lynn Carroll of Sacramento, Calif.; two granddaughters, Colleen Carroll and Julie Carroll, both of Lake Isabella; his grandson, David Carroll of Lake Isabella; his twin sister, Earline Evans of Newbern; his sister, Mary Rottgering of Paducah, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Norville Carroll and Sam Carroll, both of Minnick, and Forrest Carroll of San Gabriel, Calif; and two sisters, Hilda (Carroll) Harrison of Minnick and Hazel (Carroll) Cunningham of Hornbeak.
Earl married 1 Dorothy Palmer on 31 May 1953 in Alhambra, Los Angeles Co., California.
