Robert G. "Skee" Pegram, 51, of Coal City, formerly of Winding Gulf, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999, at a Beckley hospital following a short illness. Born July 25, 1948, at Farley Hill, he was the son of L. G. "Toby" and Mae Ruth (Coleman) Pegram of Coal City. Mr. Pegram was a former coal miner and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam war. He attended Tilden Community and Princewick Community churches and was a member of the National Rifle Association, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 1606 in Beckley and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4326. He was preceded in death by a brother, Golden Lee Pegram.
Other survivors include his maternal grandmother, Francis Coleman of Coal City; three daughters, Rosie June Miller and her husband, Jeff, of MacArthur, Shawna Michelle Leigh Long and her husband, Jamie, of Munss Air Force Base, Belgium, and Gloria Darlene Pegram and her fiance, Brandyn Small, of Warner Robins, Ga.; a sister, Connie Jean Hall and her husband, Paul, of Coal City; a niece, Linda Mae Davis and her husband, Michael, of Beaver; a great-niece, Kaitlyn Michelle Davis of Beaver; and a grandson, Jonathan Allen Miler of MacArthur.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Williams-Blue Ridge Funeral Home Chapel, Sophia, with the Rev. Edward Garten officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley. Military honors will be conducted by VFW Post No. 4326, Midway-Sophia.
