Elizabeth Lasley Osborne, 75, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at her residence. Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan 11, 1999 at Hinshaw Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stephen Martin and the Rev. George Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Mrs. Osborne was born June 17, 1923 in Rockingham Co. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Bernard Lasley and Sallie Strader Lasley. She was a member of Hinshaw Memorial United Methodist Church and was a member and diligent supporter of the United Methodist Women. Throughout her life, she was active in numerous volunteer activities in Greensboro and the Sedgefield community. She was recognized by the Guilford Co. Medical Society for her unselfish contribution in the effort to eradicate Polio from Guilford County. She was a tireless volunteer in many educational programs in the Guilford County school system. She was an active participant in the Norfolk Southern Wives Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Norman Osborne; a daughter, Ellen Gray Osborne; a brother, Thomas Haldor Lasley; and a sister, Varina Lasley Venable, in addition to her parents. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Kerr and husband, the Rev. William Verdery Kerr of Sioux City, IA; sons, Joseph Scott Osborne and wife, Kimberly of Sanford, David Raine Osborne and wife, Barbara of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jason and Mark Osborne, Raine and Meredith Osborne and Elizabeth and Benjamin Kerr; sister, Lucille Eichelberger of Atlanta, Ga.; brothers, James Lasley of Lancaster, S.C., Robert Lasley of Hendersonville, Tenn. and Donald Lasley of Greensboro.

Mr. Ralph Norman Osborne, 76, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1999, at his home. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999, at Hinshaw Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Stephen Martin and the Rev. George Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park. Mr. Osborne was born June 25, 1922, in Guilford County. He was the son of the late George Ruffin Osborne and Mary Pentecost Osborne. He was an Army veteran of WWII, having served in the Pacific campaign. He was a member of Hinshaw Memorial United Methodist Church and served in many leadership roles including the Asbury Sunday School Class and the Men's Club. He was recognized for 21 years of diligent service, as the church treasurer from 1958 to 1979. He was an organizer and charter member of the Pinecroft-Sedgefield Volunteer Fire Department. He retired as agent terminal control from Southern (Norfolk-Southern) Railway in 1984, after 38 years of service. He was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen Gray Osborne; and sister, Mary Ruth Haynes and Jean Gray; in addition to his parents. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Lasley Osborne; daughter, Mary Ann Kerr and husband, Rev. William Verdery Kerr of Sioux City, Iowa; sons, Joseph Scott Osborne and wife, Kimberly of Sanford, David Raine Osborne and wife, Barbara of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jason and Mark Osborne, Raine and Meredith Osborne, and Elizabeth and Benjamin Kerr; brother, G. Richard Osborne of Greensboro; sister, Annilea Hooks of High Point.
