HILLSBOROUGH - Mr. Walter Lee 'Dub' Ferguson, Jr., 79, of 1512 Riverside Drive, died at his home, on Thursday, November 9, 2006. Mr. Ferguson was born in Wendell to the late Walter Lee Ferguson, Sr. and Alice Elizabeth Critcher Ferguson. He had lived in Durham all of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy and retired after 36 years from Sperry Rand Electro Components Corporation. Mr. Ferguson was a member of Leesville Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years, Odell Gregory Ferguson and brothers, Tom and James Ferguson. He is survived by his wife, Jean W. Ferguson; three daughters, Martha Thomas and husband, Tommy, Debbie Clayton and husband, Robby, both of Durham, and Mitzi Ferguson, of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; stepchildren, Johnsie and David Sowder, Debbie and Randy Foote and Mike Conner; three brothers, Joe Ferguson, of Bahama, Delmus Ferguson, of Statesville and Julian Ferguson, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jeff Thomas, Jay Thomas, Christy Lovette and Rob Clayton; step-grandchildren, Earl Kimrey, Amanda Conner, Danica Conner and Katelyn Foote and great-grandchildren, Taylor Thomas, Allysa Thomas, Chase Clayton, Haley Lovette, Austin Clayton and Aubrey Clayton.Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Leesville Road Baptist Church. Rev. Jack Moody and Dr. Tobie Stone will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Hudson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1512 Riverside Drive, Hillsborough. Margaret Gooch Sutton age 88, of Brevillier Village, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening September 16, 2008 at her residence. She was born in Making Corners, North Carolina on January 19, 1920 a daughter of the late Hughie and Nina Hathcock Gooch. She was a graduate of Bragstown High School and was a homemaker most of her life. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family. She was employed at one time with the Walter Reed General Hospital and the United States Pentagon as a secretary. She was an avid Pittsburgh Sports Fan and was an accomplished organist, playing for over 56 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charles R. Sutton in 1995; a sister Thelma Washington; and a brother Thomas H. Gooch. She is survived by 3 sons: Thomas H. Sutton and his loving girlfriend Donna Layden; Roger K. Sutton and his wife Cindy; Christopher B. Sutton and his wife Kathi all of Erie; a brother William Gooch; a sister Peggy Nifong both of North Carolina, fivegrandchildren: Chris Sutton Jr.; Jeremiah Sutton; Kenny Sutton; Ryan Krysiak; and Katrina Krysiak; a great-granddaughter Emmaline Sutton; and several nieces and nephews of N. Carolina with one very close niece, Gayle Adams. Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th Street on Friday from 10am until the time of service at 11am. with Rev Richard Elberfeld officiating. Harold Russell Washington Sr., 83, of Creedmoor, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009. He was born on June 22, 1925, in Granville County, to Mary Magdelene Veazey and Thomas Hubert Washington. Mr. Washington lived in Granville County, where he was involved in several businesses until 1960, when he moved to Wake Forest and become co-owner of S&W Chevrolet. He retired from the car business in 1980. During his years in Creedmoor he served as a town commissioner. He was a member of the Lions Club and Wake Forest Rotary Club. Mr. Washington was on the board of directors of Wake Forest Federal Savings and Loan for nearly 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Washington is survived by his son, Harold Russell Washington Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Youngsville; two daughters, Gayle Washington Adams and her husband, Jim, of Wake Forest; and Mary Margaret Washington of Youngsville; a step-son, William Branch Connelly and his wife, Maryellen, of Raleigh; a step-daughter, Jane Connelly High and her husband, Danny, of Creedmoor; 10 grandchildren, Christy Gillikin and her husband, Clif, of Newport; Michelle Sullivan and her husband, Steve, of Goldsboro; Kim Sumner and her husband, Steve, of Youngsville; James Adams and his wife, Kristi, of Wake Forest; Ashlee Edwards and her husband, Ash, of Wake Forest; Cynthia Hazell and her husband, Tim, of Raleigh; William Connelly of Boone; Angela Creighton and her husband, Larry, of Raleigh; Bryan High and his wife, Kennie, of Charlotte; Laura DeBruhl and her husband, Andy, of Charlotte; 10 great-grandchildren, Gavin Gillikin, Caryson Gillikin, CJ Gillikin, Madison Sumner, Christian Sullivan, Russell Sullivan, Summer Sullivan, Laura Creighton, Deacon Adams and Jackson Edwards; his sister, Billie W. Washington of Oxford, Pansy Washington of Creedmoor and Peggie Nifong of Durham; a brother-in-law, William Gooch of Durham; a special friend, Helen Davenport; and many nieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Gooch Washington and wife, Virginia Connelly Washington. Funeral services were held Feb. 16 at the First Baptist Church in Creedmoor.
