Matt H. Rudolph Jr., 86, Clarksville, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, after an extended illness. He died in the home where he was born on Oct. 14, 1920. Preceded in death by his son, Matt H. Rudolph III, he is survived by his wife, Betty Miller Rudolph; son, Jack Miller Rudolph (Helen); and daughter, Bunny Rudolph King (Jim), Brentwood; grandchildren, Courtney Lee Rudolph, Boulder, Colo., Jack Madison Rudolph, Jeffrey Battle Rudolph, William Parker Peay, Brentwood, Matt Miller Peay, Brentwood, and John Ross Rudolph; great-grandchildren, Landis Cole Rudolph, Andrew Clay Rudolph and Madison Chloe Rudolph. Mr. Rudolph proudly served as a lieutenant in the United States Navy during World War II, participating in six invasions. He received a B.S. in Business Administration in 1943 from the University of Tennessee, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1948. He was a member of Kappa Sigma social fraternity and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. Locally, Mr. Rudolph served as president of the Jr. Chamber of Commerce, Chamber of Commerce, Fair Board and Clarksville Housing Authority. He served on the Board of Directors of Northern Bank of Tennessee (now Regions Bank) and numerous other local and civic organizations. A lifelong member of Madison Street United Methodist Church, he served as past Chairman of the Board and President of Blue Class Sunday School. Visitation will be at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. today and Thursday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at Madison Street United Methodist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Madison Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lenoir Culbertson and the Rev. Brian Gilbert officiating. Pallbearers will be Jack Madison Rudolph, Jeffrey Battle Rudolph, John Ross Rudolph, William Parker Peay, Matt Miller Peay, Ray Fessey Rudolph, John Frank Miller and Mark Foster Miller. Charles Buford Rudolph, 83, Clarksville, died Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2004, at Gateway Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Madison Street United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Doug Norfleet and Keith Sherwood officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home.
He was born Dec. 14, 1920, in Montgomery County, son of C. Buford Rudolph and Margaret Rollow Rudolph.
Mr. Rudolph was chairman of the board of Rudolph Transfer and Storage. He was a member of Madison St. United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the board of trustees and former chairman of the board, as a member of the building committee and the Willard Blue Sunday school class. He was the former director of First Trust and Savings and a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Anne Orgain Rudolph, Clarksville; a son, William B. Rudolph, Clarksville; a daughter, Susan Birdwell, Nashville; a sister, Sarah Rudolph Berrier, Pigeon Forge; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Rudolph, Frank Hubbuch, Nick Cost, Zach Romine, Johnny Rudolph, Wade Rudolph, Phil Harpel and Bill Harpel.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Willard Blue Sunday school class.
