Willie Eugene Pickrell, 84, of 7714 N.C. 150 East, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at his home. The funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, at Gospel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Helms officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. A native of Rockingham County, he was a son of the late Willie Edgar and Madie Newman Pickrell and had lived in the Osceola Community most of his life. He was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by a son, J.D. Pickrell; and a grandson, Darrell Dean Tate. Surviving are his wife, Rosa Jones Pickrell of the home; one son, Morris Pickrell of the home; three daughters, Lois P. Vernon and husband, Benny Vernon of Greensboro, Brenda P. Mounce and husband, Fred Mounce of Stokesdale, Shirley P. Lawson and husband, Lee Lawson of Kernersville; two brothers, Thomas Pickrell and wife, Lucille Pickrell of Gibsonville and Alton Pickrell and wife, Iris Pickrell of Elon College; five sisters, Lizzie P. Gwynn and husband, Henry Gwynn of Reidsville, Gladys P. Woods and husband, Joe Woods of Reidsville, Thelma P. Brown and husband, Worth Brown of Browns Summit, Evelyn P. Gunn of Britthaven of Madison, and Esther P. Craddock and husband, Bobby Craddock of Reidsville; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.
